On August 9, 2005 , the EPA proposed new public health standards for the proposed high-level radioactive waste disposal facility at Yucca Mountain , Nevada (in Western Shoshone territory). The proposed standards set a maximum dose level for the first 10,000 years, and then to provide additional protection up to 1 million years.
