Indigenous Permaculture
United States
Indigenous Permaculture is a grassroots organization that was formed between the Menominee Indian High School and the Mawaw Ceseniyah Language and Culture Center. The group meets weekly to engage in hands on learning about renewable energy and traditional agriculture, including edible forest gardening, rain harvesting, solar heating, traditional uses of plants, seed starting, permaculture design, canning, maple sugaring and wild ricing. Elders and Menominee Language and Culture teachers participate by offering wisdom and experience. High school students document the traditional processes using digital video and still cameras.
