Honor the Earth Environmental Feature: Fracking in Mandan Territories

On today's Honor the Earth Environmental Features, you will hear interviews from Mandan territories, where Winona LaDuke met and spoke with community members who are concerned with the hydraulic fracturing that is taking place, including the Birdbear sisters and many others.

The fracked oil from Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara nations, (Ft. Berthold) is the proposed contents of the Sandpiper proposed pipeline that Enbridge is currently threatening to send through the North Country in Minnesota, which plans to transport 375,000 barrels of fracked Bakken oil every day - across pristine ecosystems, ricing likes, treaty territories - and it will facilitate the creation of a national sacrifice area in western North Dakota.
