Aaron Freeland, Navajo
Mr. Freeland, Navajo, was born in 1956 into the Bitannii Clan (Folded Arms People) and the ToBaazhni (Two Who Came To Water) Clan in Rehoboth , New Mexico . He attended the Institute of American Indian Arts from 1973 to 1976 and apprenticed under master jeweler David Dear and painter Maurice Burns. For the past 15 years, Mr. Freeland has focused on painting and monotypes and has shown his work throughout the United States . His style is reminiscent of the late TC Cannon and his subject matter is his people.
