Honor the Earth: Impacted Nations: a traveling art show: Artists: James L. Grant, Sr.

I am Koyukon Athabascan born in the small village of Tanana River. I was adopted and raised in Southern California. I was drawing and painting from the 3rd grade. After returning from the Army where I served in Germany, I began college at Chaffey Jr. College in Alta Lomia, studying art and philosophy.

In 1971 my brother Jay and I returned to Alaska to find our birth family. In Fairbanks we continued our studies at the University of Alaska. There we worked in the Native Arts and Crafts program and learned of naïve culture and art. I work in all mediums, now I work largely in Graphics and commissioned large aluminum sculptures.
