In my worldview, Indigenous Peoples’ have had to act in defense mode, in response to the impact on intergenerational historical, social and political injustices. These social constraints limit our spiritual freedoms and have not allowed Indigenous Peoples’ to seek higher vision beyond a lifetime of living in a defensive state. To seek higher vision is an ancient way to manifest our art and lives through spiritual quests, to understand natural law and the animal world. Perhaps, when our children stand guard over our clan families, our relationship to the Mother Earth and to each other, our strength, art and cultural attributes will in time regenerate.
