On January 4, the Leech Lake Tribe in coordination with the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe will hold a meeting to gather concerns of tribal members regarding Enbridge pipelines on the Leech Lake reservation and the 1855 treaty territory. Information will be presented by tribal representatives on the proposal.

Pursuant to Minnesota Chippewa Tribal Resolution 30-17 mandating a MCT tribal Environmental Impact Statement, the initial hearing will allow tribal members to provide testimony for the tribal record. Additional hearings will be held.  Tribal members may present on all issues, and there is particular interest in the cultural, spiritual and physical impacts and benefits of present pipeline projects. As well, the hearing should cover any concerns about potential and present pipeline leaks.

The meeting will be held at the Cass Lake Facilities Center from 5pm to 9pm.  Food will be served 5pm to 6pm and coffee will be provided. Formal record will be taken.
