We're sending an all-Native delegation to the North of Ireland this fall to meet with organizers from the Bloody Sunday Trust in the city of Derry! All proceeds from this item go towards supporting our delegation and strengthening Native-Irish solidarity.
Over the course of a week, the delegation will meet with organizers to share stories and histories, find commonalities, and to learn lessons of successes and setbacks. The delegation will meet with Irish writers, culture keepers, student organizers, and folks at the forefront of Irish language revitalization.
This design demonstrates the strength and unity among native peoples from Turtle Island to Éire. The Dara Knot, which is a Celtic symbol for unity and longevity, is being completed by someone braiding sweetgrass, a sacred practice on Turtle Island. By weaving our struggles together, we become a stronger force against imperialism and our collective liberation becomes inevitable.
This artwork was created by an indepenent artist, Jackie Romero. Jackie is a Palestinian and Latina artist and organizer born and raised in San Francisco/Yelamu. She has been organizing for collective liberation for the last five years through cultural resistance.
