AI & Data Centers 101

  • Thursday, April 2, 2026
  • 2:00 PM 3:30 PM
  • Google Calendar ICS

We are told that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will revolutionize our world. But behind every AI-generated image, every instant chatbot reply, and every algorithmic decision, lies a colossal, energy-guzzling data center. AI has a very real, very physical cost. Once again, Indigenous, Black, and Brown peoples pay the price for the convenience of AI while powerful corporations profit. This is a new form of extraction, no different from the mines and pipelines we have long resisted.

This session is the first in a two part series on AI & Data Centers in Indian Country. For this session of Decolonize U we will be discussing:

- What is AI? How does AI work (or doesn't work)? What are the types of AI?

- What are data centers? How do data centers work? What are the types of data centers?

- Why is it important to fight back against AI & data centers in Indian Country and around the world?

The goal of this first session is to establish basic working knowledge and understanding of AI and data centers.

Demilitarization 101

  • Tuesday, November 25, 2025
  • 3:00 PM 4:30 PM
  • Google Calendar ICS

For this session of Decolonize U, we will be taking a high and low level view of the so-called United States Military Industrial Complex (MIC). We will define militarism, militarization, demilitarization, and the MIC. We will provide a brief history of how the United States military was founded on Turtle Island and how it exists today and in what context with examples. We will also explore ways to demilitarize via actions and in our minds to continue to build the world where all peoples of the global majority can thrive with honor and abundance.

This session will be facilitated and presented by Honor the Earth's two Indigenous women and United States Army combat veterans: our Executive Director Krystal Two Bulls and Decolonize U Manager Wendy Bravo.

Land Back 102

  • Tuesday, November 4, 2025
  • 12:00 PM 1:30 PM
  • Google Calendar ICS

Land Back is a political movement of returning land to Indigenous people whose land and sovereignty were stolen by settler colonialism. With land at its core, Land Back is also about reclaiming our peoplehood, medicines, ceremonies, languages & our futures. It is about fighting for a world in which we all live in right relationship with the environment and each other.

Land Back is a solution to climate catastrophe. This stands in contrast to the false solutions that perpetuate the same systems of extractivism and human exploitation with a new “green mask.” We recognize the root causes of climate change are settler colonialism, white supremacy, and racial capitalism. When we achieve Land Back, we challenge these systems of oppression that dominate the global political economy and create the climate crisis.

Honor the Earth organizes at the roots, and we recognize Land Back as part of a collective liberation framework that welcomes all oppressed peoples on Turtle Island.

For this training of Decolonize U, we will discuss ableism and disability, exploring how disability is defined, its shifting nature, and who gets to define it. We will examine the historical foundations of ableism, particularly in relation to settler colonialism, and its intersections with issues like land occupation, environmental discrimination, global imperialism, healthcare access, and immigration. We will conclude by outlining steps towards anti-ableism, including shifting value systems, collective action, inclusive language, and centering and prioritizing disabled people.

  • 3:00 PM 4:30 PM

During these extra contentious times, law enforcement interactions, particularly at borders/ports and within the 100-mile border zone, call for discipline and mindful approaches to de-escalation. This training will walk through knowing your (legal) rights when dealing with law enforcement (CPB, TSA, FBI, HSI, ICE, local police, etc.), outline useful practices for resolving and/or ensuring interactions do not jeopardize your safety, and engage participants in constructive roleplay exercises to prepare for potential real-life scenarios. The goal of this training is to leave participants with confidence in their communication skills and legal knowledge regarding interactions with law enforcement, to minimize risks of escalation and threats to bodily integrity and civil liberties.

This is an opportunity to bridge the gap between grassroots organizing and science-based interventions. This initiative is solutions-oriented, empowering Indigenous Peoples to address environmental health, wildlife, soils, and water conservation of any area of ecological concerns using comprehensive scientific methodologies.

Queerness 101

  • Thursday, April 24, 2025
  • 12:00 PM 1:15 PM

Indigenous communities traditionally honored and upheld a variety of genders and sexualities. Settler colonialism interrupted these practices and left a legacy of colonial mentalities surrounding gender and sexuality. This training will introduce core concepts of understanding gender and sexuality, review colonial histories of policing Indigenous gender and sexuality expression, and delineate Indigenous reclamations and emerging language to support Indigiqueer and Two-Spirit relatives.

This training will be led by Dr. Autumn Asher BlackDeer, a queer anti-colonial scholar-activist from the Southern Cheyenne Nation.

Indigenous Feminism(s) 101

  • Thursday, April 10, 2025
  • 12:00 PM 1:15 PM

Mainstream feminism is structured around the white middle-class experience, implicating the patriarchy as the sole overarching concern. This feminism largely fails to address historic and ongoing settler colonialism and pinkwashes the complicity of white women in colonial projects. This presentation will review mainstream feminism, introduce Indigenous critiques of this whitestream feminism, and delineate key tenets of decolonial Indigenous feminism as a remedy.

This training will be led by Dr. Autumn Asher BlackDeer, a queer anti-colonial scholar-activist from the Southern Cheyenne Nation.
